9: Emile Herbert Bronze Sculpture “Oedipus”

Pierre Eugene Emile Hebert (French, 1828-1893) bronze sculpture of the mythical Greek King of Thebes "Oedipus"; the figure stands in a loosely draped garment with sword at his hip and lifts a cloth from a statue of a winged sphinx. Has an excellent dark brown patina, signed on the left side "Emile Herbert" and titled on the front. 21.25 in. high x 9.5 in. wide x 6.25 in. deep. Weight: 28 lbs.
